Peanuts started in 1950 as a comic strip in the dailies. It features a group of personality rich kids and an aspiring writer dog named Snoopy.
What I've always found interesting about Peanuts is the psychological complexity of the characters, portrayed through light hearted satire. Their personalities and odd quirky behavior can resonate even today: Charlie Brown, with his low self esteem and neuroticism, his little sister Sally has a learning disorder, Linus is just ready for anything, Lucy has mood swings, and Snoopy is a total type A. What Peanuts shows us is that we are all unique and all imperfect... and that's OK.
While several TV and movies have been made featuring the Peanuts gang, the 65th Anniversary will be celebrated with The Peanuts Movie, releasing in theaters November 6, 2015.
Snoopy has become a beloved beagle icon, but the whole cast of characters is a revered group of individuals that truly stick together as friends.
