Fierce Foundations: Primer, Liquid, Cream, Cream to Powder, Powder

Foundation is an important piece of our beauty routines because it creates a smooth appearance, where color and accentuation can be added. Foundation helps to protect our skin, especially if it contains SPF, and it can act as a base for contouring and blush color. The type of foundation you choose is based on a few factors: preferred look and feel, coverage, and makeup goals (for example, natural look versus full glam).

Primer

Why do we even use primer? Well, primer does a few very important things: it fills in lines and creates a clean surface to begin the makeup artistry, it smooths your skin and allows foundation to blend, tinted primers and color correctors can help reduce discoloration, and primer helps to lock in moisture.

Liquid

Powder

Love Your Face

Wearing foundation, concealer, blush and/or bronzer can create the perfect canvas for any highlighting makeup you do, but it also serves powerful makeup duty if it's the only makeup you wear!

Foundation can even skin tone, blend out flaws, and it can prevent environmental damage such as UV sun rays if it contains SPF.

When choosing foundation, select a color or shade that is as close to your natural skin tone as possible.

Concealer shades should be a little lighter than your natural skin tone.

I Love My Liquid

For a very long time I struggled with the skin tones on my face. I have (and have always had) a lot of red tones on my face. I flush easily and have a "ruddy" complexion. When I was younger that went oh so well with my stick straight blonde hair, big nose and freckles. BUT I've learned to love my face and I'm not even afraid to share it without makeup, like I do in this tutorial.

I didn't even start using liquid foundation until my 30s. Seriously, what was I thinking?! I usually used just moisturizer and a loose powder... Now I love my liquid!

This video is different ways that I personally apply liquid foundation. This is the first time I have used the AVON MagiX (Magic-X? Magicks? How do you say it?) and I have to say, it is smoother and softer than any other foundations I've used, from Cover Girl to Studio Gear.
